The
Greek
office of Harvard's Washington D.C.- based Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS)
in the city of Nafplion will be
inaugurated on June 28. Having been awarded the 2006 Onassis
International Prize for its ongoing commitment to the promotion of Modern
Greek Studies throughout the world, the CHS’s base in the Peloponnese fits into
the university’s efforts towards increasing its student’s international
experience. The institution boasts cutting edge technological equipment and the
Nafplion site serves as a place for research and teaching. It was chosen instead
of Athens due to its proximity to archaeological sites such as Mycenae and its
closeness to the Greek capital.
