Symposium at Georgetown University

Secretary General of Information of Greece Panos Livadas will be a keynote speaker at a Georgetown University symposium on November 17 and 18 on "Envisioning the Future: Meeting the Needs of Young Greek Americans" that is being organized, under the auspices of Ambassador of Greece Alexandros P. Mallias and the Greek Secretariat General of Information, by the World Council of Hellenes (S.A.E.) / U.S.A. Region, the Hellenic American National Council, and the American Hellenic Institute.

Other keynote speakers from the U.S. include Congressman John Sarbanes, CBS Weekend News anchor Thalia Assuras, and S.A.E. U.S.A. Region Coordinator Theodore Spyropoulos, while speakers from Greece include Special Secretary for Public Enterprises and Entities Aimilios Stasinakis, Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) Chairman Michael Caramanis, Greek National Tourist Organization President Athanasios Oikonomou, Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Costas Mihalos, Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs Special Secretary Aggelos Syrigos, Hellenic Capital Markets Commission Vice Chairman Anastassis T. Gabrielides , and Centre for Policy Analysis and Planning Director of Research Prof. Kostas Ifantis.

In addition to several other noted speakers, there will be a concert by acclaimed Greek singer Elly Paspala on Saturday, November 17, 8 pm, at the National Geographic auditorium, while the film by Maria Iliou "The Journey: The Greek American Dream" will be shown on Friday, November 16, 7 pm, at the American Film Institute Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD.
